The project tries to emulate an average supermarket’s meat department. After taking a number for the line, participants have access to a counter where they can buy a piece of meat, choosing from 35 different cuts and cold cuts, packed in polystyrene trays or displayed in labelled trays. The clay pieces are deliberately left uncooked, as actual meat is usually bought raw.
Along with the purchased food, the buyer receives a brochure with instructions for cooking the piece in the microwave at home.
