We live in an age where artificial intelligence eliminates waiting times, providing answers and solutions at a speed that exceeds human capacity. The Velum series challenges this immediacy by transforming the instant nature of technology into a time-consuming process, thus restoring value to waiting and suspending the efficiency of algorithms. Each piece is the result of a request made to artificial intelligence, whether a question, a complex problem or a visual or textual stimulus. The AI processes the request in a matter of seconds, generating images or texts that are then printed in ink on thermal paper. The artist then conceals this information by using irons or hot plates to completely blacken the surface, rendering the content invisible.

Time thus becomes the subject of the work: it takes three to ten years for the blackening to dissolve and the image to slowly re-emerge. The effectiveness of the machine, which can produce results in a fraction of a second, is negated and replaced by an extended process. This gives humans the opportunity to anticipate, understand or resolve the initial request independently. The blackened surface recalls a blank display screen, finding a parallel in Kazimir Malevich's Black Square: a visual negation and a reset encompassing latent expressive potential. The supports holding the works are composed of monitor arms and bases, allowing the prints to be oriented in space and promoting a dynamic relationship with the viewer's gaze. The titles of each print correspond to the questions or commands addressed to the AI, offering a glimpse of what is to be revealed.
